Guitar Lessons in East London & Online

Meet Chris
Chris Deering
Guitar Coach & Musician
Hi, I’m Chris — a guitar coach, musician and sound engineer based in East London.
I help students build strong musical foundations through structured, focused lessons that are relaxed, practical, and adapted to the individual student.
My teaching focuses primarily on guitar, using songs and real musical material to help students develop technique, rhythm, musical confidence, creativity, improvisation, and overall playing ability in a way that feels enjoyable and motivating.
I first began learning music in 2008 after joining a school band. After performing at school concerts and local venues, I realised I wanted to pursue music professionally. I later completed a BTEC in Music before graduating from BIMM Brighton in 2016 with a degree in Professional Musicianship.
Since graduating, I’ve continued to work professionally as a musician and performer across the UK. Performance highlights have included weddings, private events, Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, and performances with artists including Wura Abimbola (The Voice UK 2021) and @officialshannonuk.
Alongside performing, I began teaching in 2018 to share my passion for music with others. Since then I’ve worked with students of various ages, backgrounds and experience levels — from complete beginners through to students studying advanced graded material.
Some former students have also gone on to continue studying music and sound engineering at university level.
I’ve also collaborated with X7eaven in Walthamstow, helping prepare and rehearse youth performers for their live showcase as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Outside of teaching, I continue to write and record some of my own music, including my original track “I Left My Soul By The Road”.
My teaching style combines structure and consistency with a relaxed, supportive environment that helps students build confidence over time.
